Capita Registrars issues the latest report on activities for private investors.
Figures in our report reveal that private investor shareholdings reach highest level in more than three years. Retail shareholders saw their holdings soar to £233bn in the three months to the end of February 2011, according to the latest analysis of UK share registers from Capita Registrars. This is the highest level since November 2007 and reflects both the sharp recovery in the market and the investment of new capital in equities.
Charles Cryer, Chief Executive of Capita Registrars said, “With cash offering such paltry interest rates, bond yields exceptionally low, and property on shaky ground, private investors have been attracted by strong dividend yields and the recovery in corporate profits."
