Supporting the community

We are committed to supporting the community by taking part in various fund raising events and encouraging our staff to dedicate time towards helping those in need through Capita driven initiatives. We have been involved in and organised many charity days, raising funds for local and national charities.

This year our corporate charity partner is Alzheimer's Society, for whom we aim to raise a million pounds. Throughout the year we have supported Alzheimer's Society by organising various fund raising events and dedicated charity days.

We've also arranged and taken part in events and fund raisers for a number of other charities. For more information about some of the charities we support, have a look at our charity write-ups below.

Alzheimer's Society

Our corporate charity partner, Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading organisation in the fight against dementia. By working with Alzheimer’s we can help to provide care for today and invest in a cure for tomorrow.

Dementia is one of the biggest health concerns of our time; there are currently 750,000 people with dementia in the UK and by 2021 this figure will rise to over one million. Together Alzheimer’s Society and Alzheimer Scotland support over 100,000 people every year through their network of branches and national helpline.

Our partnership with Alzheimer’s Society will raise awareness about dementia and ensure people living with the disease get the support and help they need and deserve.

Over the next two years we hope to work together to raise £1million for Alzheimer’s Society, Alzheimer Scotland and the Alzheimer Society of Ireland.

Click - It's better online

Click volunteerClick is a Capita initiative supporting Race Online 2012’s Go ON campaign, which aims to make the UK the first nation where everyone is on the web.

In the UK, 8.7 million people are not computer or internet users. Almost half are low-income families, unemployed or over 65. They miss out on cheaper services, jobs, education and information that can make their lives better.

How we're helping

Our campaign promise is that at least 12,000 Capita employees will be digital champions, or Click mates, helping people to get online by July 2012. By supporting our campaign, we can help more people to get online and we can challenge ourselves to make our digital public services more inclusive.

Greenstreams

Greenstreams projectGreenstreams is a Huddersfield based charity aimed at establishing the River Colne as a community asset, by organising riverside clean ups and encouraging local schools to get involved in protecting this wildlife corridor.

Having signed up as corporate volunteers for this environmental charity, our Huddersfield office sponsored Rowley Lane Junior, Infant and Nursery School, in riverside cleanups and educational days out during June 2011. Two classes from Year 5 involving approximately 60 pupils took part in these activities after the summer half term break.
